CAPA College partner with Yorkshire Dance for RE:FRESH 2021

This March, CAPA College partnered with Yorkshire Dance as they hosted RE:FRESHjam-packed digital dance festival for young people.

Young dancers from across the region had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a range of workshops, alongside viewing incredible performances in the RE:FRESH Performance Episodes.

The Performance Sharing Episodes were a hit, showcasing dance organisations from all over Yorkshire. CAPA College’s in-house Performing and Creative Arts Company were featured twice with viewers enjoying dance pieces Mupenyu and Fortitude performed by Momentum Youth Boys.

RE:FRESH also provided schools with the unique opportunity to take part in free, live workshops from a range of dance organisations from across the Yorkshire region. CAPA College’s incredible team hosted nine live dance workshops over three days including jazz, contemporary and lyrical sessions. In addition, CAPA College dance teachers Amelia Rose-Fielding and Keith Luke Gillott led a high-energy commercial workshop that was available online for the duration of the festival. These virtual workshops received outstanding feedback from the schools that took part:

“Students were fully engaged in the workshop. Our higher level students really benefitted from the in depth technique pointers that were given and were encouraged not only to learn steps but to explore performance and dynamics which made a real difference to their overall performance of the choreography. The detailed explanations and the pace of the workshop also allowed our weaker students to pick up choreography easily and they made excellent progress too. AMAZING! THANK YOU CAPA COLLEGE!” – Horizon Community College

“We thought that the workshop was very educating and fun! We learnt a new style of dance and proper technique for movements.” – Student Participant
