Governance

Thank you for showing an interest in our Local Governing Board. The manner in which CAPA College is governed is a matter of great importance which affects the quality of the provision for its students and community together with its financial security.

The Governance of CAPA College is carried out by members of the LGB (Local Governing Board) together with Trustees of Enhance Academy Trust who have specific skills and interests in the education of pupils aged 16-19 in the Performing Arts in Wakefield and Yorkshire.

In collaboration with the Trustees of the Enhance Academy Trust and according to the levels of delegation agreed by the DfE, the LGB conducts its business in compliance with relevant law and its Instrument and Articles of Government. It also observes regulations issued by the funding bodies and acts within the principles laid down by the Nolan Committee on Standards in Public Life for those holding public office as detailed in the College’s Code of Conduct for Governors.

Governors recognise the importance of clarity in identifying their role and responsibilities and in differentiating those from the roles and responsibilities of the CAPA College Leadership Team whilst, at the same time, recognising the key interactions between the two.

The LGB has three main responsibilities:
· To set the strategic vision for the College.
· To oversee the management of College finances and assets.
· To monitor and maintain the quality of the College’s work.

The following are responsible for the Governance of CAPA College:

Jo Butterworth (Member of the LGB)
Angela Barral (Parent Governor)
Poonam Kaur (Chair)
Fiona McMahon (Trustee of Enhance Academy Trust)
Janet Milne (Trustee of Enhance Academy Trust)
Claire Nicholson (Principal)
Pat Thompson (Co-opted Governor)
James Ramsden (Co-opted Governor)
Nigel Cowell-Clark (Co-opted Governor)

All of the governors were appointed by Enhance Academy Trust. For more information visit www.enhanceacad.org.uk.

As the College grows and develops, our aim is to also increase our work with parents and the community to enable the staff of CAPA College to continue to provide the very best education and opportunities for all students who attend this unique and remarkable provision in the North of England.

The parent body of the College elect a Parent Governor each Autumn Term for a 2-year term of office. Please contact me on the email address below if you are interested in standing for this extremely interesting and worthwhile position.

If you need to contact the LGB then please email info@capacollege.co.uk.
