Ethos

CAPA College’s ethos is based on the principle of being ‘ACE.’ Ensuring Accessibility and Collaboration are at the heart of all we do with Excellence being our aim.

Accessibility

Our brand-new building was built with accessibility at the forefront. As well as lifts and ramps for ease of access, we also have a hearing loop for use in performance spaces and will accommodate our audiences through touch tours to explore performance spaces and BSL interpreted performances.

We are proud to have worked with pioneering artists who are striving for greater inclusivity in the Arts including Sandrine Monin and Unbound Dance Theatre.

Collaboration

Creating real, working, collaborative partnerships with a wealth of the UK’s leading arts professionals and Higher Education institutions;

Collaborating as a ‘CAPA College team’ – embracing the wide range of skills and expertise of our CAPA College staff and students;

Collaborating with schools and the community to enhance the arts offer for younger people in the local area.

Excellence

Striving for excellence in all that students and staff do and achieve, including teaching and learning, opportunities, behaviour, outcomes, achievement, student progression routes, pastoral care, support and guidance;

Ensuring the highest expectations,  aspirations and standards for all students and staff, resulting in outcome excellence –  results, student progression and satisfaction.

Inclusion

Inclusivity is embedded in the ethos of CAPA College.

We have accessible and gender-neutral toilets on all levels, every student is encouraged to choose their own pronouns and adapt their learning accordingly and, wherever possible, all casting is done blind (without considering race, ethnicity, body shape, sex or gender).
