The Performing Arts: Musical Theatre course pathway at CAPA College offers exciting, all-round Performing Arts training providing students with versatility in terms of their skill set, creative approach and awareness of the Arts. This enables students to be able to access a range of higher education and career options. Musical Theatre is the key genre studied on this pathway and most students will progress to Musical Theatre higher education courses and careers. However, students will also have the breadth and depth of experience to progress into other specialist areas, from Contemporary Dance to Acting, Choreography to Directing.

Performing Arts training at CAPA College is rigorous and challenging, requiring a high level of commitment and dedication from students. This approach enables students to succeed in progressing to higher education Performing Arts training and, ultimately, a career in the Arts. Students receive extensive directed contact time. This is a programme of technical training, creative development, directed performance and theoretical application led by CAPA College’s resident team of specialist teachers plus regular masterclasses from the UK’s leading Arts professionals and companies.

Qualifications

Students will gain the following qualifications:

Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) – equivalent to 2 A levels

A level Dance

A level Drama and Theatre Studies

The A level qualifications are examined both practically and through formal written examinations. The vocational focus of the Diploma means that all work and performance opportunities (including all ongoing participation in classes and rehearsals) are assessed. Students cover a range of units and, at the end of the course, will be awarded an overall grade according to the combined total of the individual units. Varied assessment methods include: studio based assessments, studio performances, lecture demonstrations, journals, public performances in CAPA College’s theatre and across the country.

Ross is now a successful Musical Theatre performer. Professional credits include: Half a Sixpence (West End), Oklahoma UK Tour, Grease UK Tour, FAME UK Tour, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat UK Tour.
