Momentum Theatre

Momentum Theatre is one of the UK’s leading youth theatre companies.

Incorporating stage and screen acting, as well as directing, devising, improvisation and scriptwriting, Momentum Theatre is home to some of the North’s most promising young talents.

Aged between 16 and 19, members of West Yorkshire-based Momentum Theatre are amongst some of the most recognisable young performers in the country. Current members have starred in BBC and ITV dramas, had national and international film debuts, regularly feature in television advertising campaigns and perform in professional stage productions throughout the country.

Momentum Theatre is widely celebrated. Its members were selected to perform in the prestigious National Theatre Connections festival at the Dorfman Theatre in 2018. Momentum Theatre is also the incumbent winner of the National Theatre New Views scriptwriting competition. It first won the competition in 2018 with Alice Schofield’s script If We Were Older and held on to the title in 2019 with Isabel Hague’s If Not Now, When?.

Former members of Momentum Theatre have gone on to star on the West End stage, take leading roles in television, appear in Hollywood movies and become the next generation of directors and creatives. Notable performances include Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (Universal Pictures), Wild Bill (ITV), Harlots (Hulu), Cold Feet (ITV), Saturday Night Fever (UK & International Tour), Book of Mormon (UK & International Tour), Waitress (West End) and City of Angels (West End).
