Established in 1998, Momentum is the multi award-winning, in-house Performing and Creative Arts Company of CAPA College.
One of the leading Arts institutions in the North of England, CAPA College provides full-time Creative and Performing Arts training and education to students aged 16-19 and has gained an excellent reputation for its outstanding teaching, exceptional performances and first-class career progression.
Momentum extends this incredible provision to support the College’s most talented students to take part in professional performances, events, national and international festivals and competitions and to develop their own creative practice with support from leading Arts practitioners and organisations.
Momentum has an impressive 23-year history which incorporates memorable performances at Move It, U.Dance, Can You Dance?, National Theatre Connections and Edinburgh Fringe Festival amongst countless others.
Recognised as one of the UK’s top youth performance companies, Momentum has received a number of impressive awards and accolades, including National Theatre New Views Winners 2018 & 2019, National Theatre Connections Shortlist 2018, BBC Young Dancer Finalist 2017, Rock Challenge Northern Premier Champion and Sky 1 Got to Dance Semi-finalists.
Momentum is home to the next generation of world-class performers. Past members have gone on to star on the West End stage, take leading roles in television, appear in Hollywood movies and become the next generation of directors, designers and technicians. Most recently alumni have starred in Saturday Night Fever UK & International Tour, along with West End shows Waitress and City of Angels.
